Will the wheel mount electric motor kit work on my recumbent bike? Yes, just notify us when you are ordering your friction-style single or dual motor that you have a recumbent-style bike. We will extend the wires to fit your bike.
Does the motor engage immediately upon pedaling?
Simply start pedaling, squeeze and hold the switch to engage the motor.
How far can I go on a battery charge?
On a full charge, you can go up to 30 miles if you are using your bike to pedal all of the time for exercise. If you want a leisure ride by pedaling half the time and using the motor to assist, you can go up to 20 miles on a charge. Releasing the motor and pedaling will send a charge back to the battery, extending your ride.
Do I need to change my bike license to a motor vehicle license?
Motorized bicycles are legally treated the same as standard bicycles.
How fast will an electric assisted bike go?
A standard bicycle will travel approximately 15 mph, and adult trikes will travel approximately 11 mph using the power of the motor only. If you pedal along with the motor, your speed will increase.
Do I have to pedal up hills, or can the motor do all the work for me?
You MUST pedal, at least slowly, while going up steep inclines. The effort it takes is drastically reduced by using the electric motor assist. If you have a lot of hills in your area, check out the dual motor assembly for more power.
Will moisture or rain effect an electric assist bike?
No. All electric components are weather proof so that water will not damage any of the components.
